Prater Ltd joins the Lindner Group
On Thursday 5th May 2011, the German Lindner Group completed the
strategic acquisition of Prater Ltd, UK’s leading building envelope specialist. Prater, operating from seven locations in the UK, will become an integral part of the family owned Lindner Group, Europe’s top specialist interior fit-out and facades contractor.

2011, the German Lindner Group completed the
strategic acquisition of Prater Ltd, UK’s leading building envelope specialist. Prater, operating from
seven locations in the UK, will become an integral part of the family owned Lindner Group, Europe’s top specialist interior fit-out and facades contractor.
The Lindner Group entered the international facades market in 2006 when it purchased the staff and assets of the renowned Schmidlin (UK) Ltd and formed Lindner Schmidlin Facades Ltd, recently renamed Lindner Facades Ltd. The acquisition of Prater is the next major expansion of the Lindner Group’s portfolio. Adding Prater’s expertise allows the Lindner Group to offer Clients an unrivalled and unique procurement route in the construction industry by affording them the opportunity to procure both the external envelope and the internal fit-out of their building from a single source, massively simplifying procurement and ongoing coordination.
The Lindner Group, through Lindner Facades, is already well established in the UK, Germany and the Middle East bespoke facades market. Having successfully completed major facades projects including landmark schemes such as 30 Crown Place, Greenwich Peninsula, Harlequin BSkyB and Heathrow Terminal 5. This latest acquisition will allow Lindner to significantly expand in both the façade and the complete building envelope sectors. Prater Ltd will benefit from the strong backing that a financially secure, highly regarded and globalised contracting group can provide.

With an annual turnover of £65m, Prater is ranked first among the UK’s top specialist contractors. Disciplines include rainscreen and rendered façade systems, composite cladding, glazed curtain walling, single-ply membranes, structural waterproofing as well as aluminium and traditional metal standing seam roofing systems. The strong Prater brand name, Prater’s management and 300 highly skilled staff and workforce will remain unchanged by the acquisition. Prater have participated in significant projects, such as Emirates Stadium, Westfield White City, Olympic Stadium and various Airport schemes.
The Lindner Group was founded in 1965 by Hans Lindner in Arnstorf, Germany, where the group headquarters are still located. From here Lindner operates plants and subsidiaries in 20 countries and employs more than 5,000 people worldwide.
