Rosenheim has one more professor: Based on his first-class research achievements in the area of interior construction and facade construction, the Technical College Rosenheim is awarding Klaus Lang, who has been an authorized signatory and Area Manager of R&D at the Lindner Group from Arnstorf for the past 16 years, with the title of Honorary Professor.
In future, Klaus Lang will be working more intensively on research and development projects of the Technical College. The Technical College and the corporation intend to intensify their cooperation as part of a strategic partnership.
Professor Heinrich Köster officially awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Technical College Rosenheim to the native Lower Bavarian during the annual announcement of the research areas of the Lindner Group. “I am delighted that we were able to find a specialist in material testing, who not only has a broad knowledge in both theory and practical application, but who also has many years' experience of working with national and international institutions", said the president of the Technical College Rosenheim, explaining the selection process.
Klaus Lang was himself a former student at the Rosenheim College. The trained carpenter joined Lindner after completion of his degree in wood technology in 1990 as a CAD Construction Manager, and after five years with the company he was appointed Head of Research & Development for the specialist departments Structural Physics, Sound Insulation, Fire Protection, Statics, Construction and Application Technology for domestic and international business areas. 155 employees are currently working under his helm in the department of R&D. Since January 2011 the 47-year old is also the Managing Director of the Gesellschaft für Innovative Bautechnologie mbH (GIB). “The focus of my development work over the past few years has been the investigation of fire behaviour of wood and of wood-based materials in connection with various other material compositions” describes the brand-new Rosenheim College professor his specialism. “On top of which I remain in very close contact with institutes in many European countries, with whom we carry out regular material testing in terms of fire, noise, statics, and resistance to driving rain.”
Prof. Lang maintained regular contact with the Technical College Rosenheim even after completing his studies there: For several years he has been supervising degree dissertations, has been working as a lecturer at the College and has participated in joint research and development projects.
The plan is to intensify the cooperation that already exists in certain fields and to expand it further, so as to utilize the scientific competence of the Technical College Rosenheim in areas that are relevant to the Lindner Group. Within the framework of a strategic partnership the family-run enterprise and the Technical College from Upper Bavaria intend to carry out joint research and development projects, foster academic talent and implement a mutual exchange of information.
